Beschreibung
The Haldenburg castle near Schwabegg clearly demonstrates its function as a refuge in the Hungarian period. Main ramparts up to 15 metres high and equestrian obstacles in front still impress visitors today. There is an information board on the outer bailey and another on the riding obstacles. These display boards show the layout and a reconstruction of this large castle complex, to which Bishop Ulrich retreated in 953/954 during the siege of Augsburg during the uprising of King Otto's son Liudolf against his father. Since 2008, the Haldenburg has been part of a forest and cultural trail.
