In the Balloon Museum Gersthofen, a tour over nine levels informs visitors about the history of ballooning, technology, ballooning, the scientific and military use of balloons, records and disasters. The old water tower near the new museum building houses the aeronautics collection of Augsburg balloonist Alfred Eckert. The Balloon Museum in Gersthofen, which is unique in Germany, is one of the largest German technology museums in municipal sponsorship.

The museum has 21Â audioguides, which are lent out free of charge at the information desk. This provides visitors with a wealth of information about the exhibits and the history of ballooning on their tour at 21 stations. Contemporary witnesses give first-hand accounts of adventurous record-breaking flights and ballooning. There is a special audio guide text for children.
Guided tours are available on request. Here, former or active balloonists also bring the subject of ballooning to life with a great deal of commitment and background knowledge.
Regular public and guided tours on special occasions such as the Kulturina or International Museum Day are announced in the daily press and on the museum's website.
