Colourful Lechfeld fields

With the pilot project Bunte Lechfeldäcker (Colourful Lechfield Fields), the Landschaftspflegeverband Landkreis Augsburg (Landscape Conservation Association for the District of Augsburg) is taking care of field wild herbs that have become rare and is promoting their conservation: two show fields are being cultivated. The project reproduces the cycle of three-field farming, which was common until the 19th century. In 2009, spelt and rye were sown on the show fields. The two areas were made available by the municipalities of Klosterlechfeld and Oberottmarshausen.
