Hans Malzer belongs to a generation of artists who subjected traditional art concepts to a radical internal revision and, in an effort to find a new and different definition of "art", also demanded a different way of dealing with "art". His oeuvre is as numerous as it is diverse. ln the past decades, Hans Malzer has realised numerous art projects in connection with the construction of schools, churches and homes or for the design of public spaces. The conspicuously high density of projects in the wider and closer vicinity of his home in Adelsried speaks for the approving response he receives not only from his clients but also from the public. Hans Malzer is not an artist who provokes. He knows the region and the mentality of its inhabitants and knows how to take this into account. His message is received, regardless of whether he expresses it in his sculptures, reliefs, stained glass windows or mosaics. With the repertoire of these traditional art genres, which require a masterful handling of surface and space, Malzer demonstrates artistic as well as craftsmanship skills. He works exclusively on his preferred materials of stone, wood, glass and clay himself and thus accompanies the entire process from the first draft to the completed object.
