Holzen Monastery lies high above the Lech Valley. According to legend, it was founded in 1150 by the knight Marquard von Donnersberg as a double Benedictine monastery (with a male and a female convent). The former monastery church was rebuilt by 1704. From 1740 onwards, the pilgrimage to the miraculous child came into being: the clothed Christ Child from 1620/30 can be seen in a glass shrine.
