The Langweid hydroelectric power station is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the "Augsburg Water Management System".
This power station, which still generates electricity today, was commissioned in 1907. In the historicist building above the Northern Lech Canal, the Lech Museum Bavaria provides insights into the landscapes and nature along the river on two floors and informs about the history of the Lech Valley and the water management there. The history of the Lechwerke Augsburg and the development of the Lech for power generation is also documented. A cinematic river journey leads from the Alps to the Danube. A highlight in the museum is a technical monument: an original preserved hydroelectric turbine in the two-storey walk-in turbine house from 1907.In 2021, the Lech Museum Bavaria received a new section in which Augsburg's UNESCO World Heritage Site is explained.
